Yamaha Electone Festival 2008 - Northern Region
I do not want to recount every single minute of the event. So, let me just tell you the important things. First of all, I would like to express my utmost dissatisfaction about the results. It wasn't easy to comprehend, I would say, even to the audience. Obvious and being too obvious, the results were plain cr*p. Do they not appreciate what 'good music' is? What were the winning factors? Someone, indulge me, please! I'm not saying this because I wasn't the victor, I'm saying this on behalf of other students - more worthy to represent themselves to participate in the National Finals. Yes, I meant the kids as well.
Expectations were crumbled as the results were announced. Regardless of the Junior, open-solo or free-style category, the results or what we know as the judges' 'decisions' didn't please most of the people. Was it just good fingerwork? or showmanship that mattered? Our group fulfilled all the winning factors. Sad to say, the judges didn't like us.
I wasn't THAT upset about the defeat at first. But after watching the recorded video from the Handycam, I was very very very sad indeed. We did so well but... We were not appreciated. You might think I'm bragging here. But you can check out our performance vid on YouTube (uploading soon) and tell me whether we deserve a place in the finals or not. :D
I shall stop here, or else I would type till the next sunrise.
LtoR: MeiJie (electone), Yap (piano), Teacher Jasmin, Stan (drums), Jonathan (bass guitar), Jefrey (percussions), Patsy (electone)
