Of dignity, corruption and money.
Recently, I came across an issue regarding how one's reputation is tarnished in mere minutes due to the so-called 'dirty job' done by others. Out of pure jealousy? Vengeance?
My personal review is that when one decides to do something, that must be done wholeheartedly. As the Malay proverb goes: Alang-alang menyeluk pekasam, biar sampai ke pangkal lengan. I look up to people who have faith in themselves and try their best to achieve something. It is definitely something to be proud of, don't you think? After years and years of hardwork, that person deserves a pat on his back.
In this dog-eat-dog world, humans race to become the most famous, richest, smartest etc.. When one achieves that with his own hands, that's good work. Too bad, some people uses corruption to achieve their so-called ambition. Ambition is defined as something that you very much want to have or do, or...
a strong desire to be successful, to have power.
This explains all. Most people (not all) tend to use money to solve their problems. Not knowing that their actions would harm the innocent.
What about all the lessons we have learnt? The moral values? History?
Money is the root of all evil. This statement is partially true because we can use money to do something good. Celebrities have given away generous donations to victims of the Hurricane Katrina, Tsunami, and the recent earthquake in Sichuan.
Would you be happy if your friend buys you the new collection of Nike shoes when the money came from threatened kids, or would you be happier if he buys you a small teddy bear using the money he earned from working behind a deli counter?
